Water is Used to Produce Everything We Use and Consume

Image The average American uses about 115 to 150 gallons of water/day.  There are many simple ways to reduce your household and business water consumption; check out our 5 for 5 for 5 Solution.

However, the 115 to 150 gallons of water used daily is just for household use including:  drinking, cooking, bathing, cleaning, flushing the toilet, laundry, and yard work.  This does not account for what is called 'virtual water' or 'hidden water'.  Virtual water is the amount of water needed to produce the things we use everyday such as:  the vegetables we eat, the clothes we wear, the products we use and the electricity we need.  Water is required to produce everything we use and consume.

Click on the following link to Calculate Your Water Fooprint and discover how much virtual water you use daily.  With this in mind we can see that by reducing consumption of products and recycling whenever possible we can conserve water resources.
